Designed to create awareness among ground-level maintenance teams to help improve reliability, reduce downtime, and support ICML LAT exam preparation.

Prepare for ICML LAT certification exam.

The exam and the associated certification is provided by ICML. Baker Hughes can provide an proctored environment for the paper or online exam.

No prior lubrication experience required

Program:

Day 1

Why machines need lubrication
Basic machine and bearing types
Functions of lubricants
Viscosity and viscosity index (VI)

Day 2

Lubricant types: oils, greases, solid lubricants
Base oils, additives, and grease basics (thickeners, NLGI grades)
Lubrication methods (manual & automatic)
Greasing best practices (quantity, frequency, cleanliness)

Day 3

Basic lubrication calculations (volume & intervals)
Introduction to ultrasound lubrication
Oil sampling fundamentals and visual inspection
Recognizing early signs of lubrication problems

Day 4

Basics of contamination control and ISO cleanliness codes
Major contaminants and their effects
Lubricant storage, handling, and identification systems
Health, safety, and environmental considerations

Day 5

ICML Exam: The certification exam consists of 70 multiple‑choice questions administered over two hours. A score of 70% is required to pass.

(Note: The LAT certification is valid for three years and is not renewable. It is intentionally designed for entry‑level personnel who do not yet have 12 months of experience in lubricant‑analysis‑based machinery condition monitoring and are not yet ready to pursue advanced certifications such as MLA.)
